Girls' Forum - Term 6 Update

On 2nd and 9th of June, we held powerful and engaging talks on misogyny for our Year 7 students, aiming to raise awareness and promote respectful attitudes from an early stage. The sessions were supported by our Key Stage Three Outreach Prefects and featured incredible contributions from a group of passionate Year 12 volunteers. It was an inspiring experience for everyone involved, and we’re hopeful to run a similar session for the Year 10s next term.

Alongside supporting the learning of younger students, Girls’ Forum has been fortunate to receive a visit from former-GGS student Esther Anthony-Ajileye (GGS 2019-2021) who delivered an inspirational talk about her career as a Leverage Finance Sales Analyst, and the processes that allowed her to achieve this. Her presentation was engaging and informative with regard to the world of banking - an area that remains a mystery for many - as well as providing invaluable insights into the University of Cambridge, and the benefits of internships. It was great to have such an incredible, confident woman volunteer her time to inform and inspire.

Lastly, we’ve also started designing a notice board dedicated to the Girls’ Forum and it will be up as soon as possible. It will showcase who we are, what the forum stands for, and the initiatives we’ve been involved in so far, including the recent misogyny talk for Year 7. The aim is to raise awareness, encourage more students to engage with our work, and create a visible space that celebrates student-led efforts to pro[1]mote equality, respect, and positive change across the school.
