GGS Politics Society - Term 4

GGS Politics Society - Term 4

Over the course of Term 4, we’ve seen a variety of well-researched and engaging Politics Society sessions. Theo Li gave an excellent presentation on Ukrainian Nationalism which delved into the history of the Ukrainian Independence Movement, what different forms it’s taken over hundreds of years and how the invasion of Ukraine could shape the identity of Ukrainians; Freddie Peirce-Howe gave a detailed presentation about the presidential campaign of Ross Perot in 1992 and the third party movement that he created afterwards, as well as the impacts of third parties on US politics more broadly, and Oscar Fazzani gave a thorough presentation about the life of PM Winston Churchill, from his first election in the late 19th century all the way to his death in 1965, talking about achievements within politics and whether or not he deserves to be remembered in the way that he is. As we continue into Term 5 we’re looking forward to seeing more sessions led by passionate students on unique and interesting topics. Politics Society is every Tuesday after school in Room 711, and is open to students in all years. Freddie Peirce-Howe 12AD
