GCSE Art Trip - London

GCSE Art Trip - London

Students in Year 10 studying their Art GCSE visited London in June to experience work in the Tate Modern, along with a walk along the Thames to Leake Street Arches, where they could see graffiti artists at work. It was a blisteringly hot day but the students were committed to getting as much out of it as possible and we are delighted with their attitude and the way they represented the school, with many members of the public commenting on how enthusiastic and polite they were. They are currently working on their sustained project, with a choice of themes from ‘Places & Spaces’ or ‘Light & Dark’. Students took lots of photos to use in their later work and experienced the work of Do Ho Suh, who creates installations of parts of his homes in London, Seoul and New York from unusual materials such as fabric and paper, and the work of Anthony McCall, who creates installations using light beams and haze machines which the students were able to interact with. The students have taken inspiration from the day to go on and create their own personal work, which we look forward to seeing coming together ready for the end of their coursework in Term 2
