GGS Music - Term 5 update

GGS Music - Term 5 update

GGS MUSIC It's been a very busy few weeks back since Easter for the GGS Music Department! This relatively short term has been packed with events. We have had many things to do in a short space of time: finalising GCSE and A Level performance and composition coursework, Aletheia 10th Anniversary Service at Rochester Cathedral, hosting The Recorder Festival, Year 7 class samba performances and the Year 13 Visiting Examiner performance. It was also a pleasure to see so many of our young musicians be recognised at Senior Prize Giving - with several Year 11 and Year 13 students being awarded School Colours for their contributions and dedication to extracurricular music during their time at the school. We would like to particularly thank our outgoing Year 13 students for their work in building our GGS Music community during their time at the school; Solace Behr 13KMG, Stanley Ching 13KMJ, Callum Fooks 13KMJ, Harry Jesshop 13AS, and Zak Seagers 13KMJ. On the other end of the musical journey, it was wonderful to see our Year 9 and 10 students take part in the Junior Recital, showcasing their hard work and starting on their development towards being senior musicians. Thank you to everyone who has supported our events this term, it is always much appreciated and a pleasure to see our students demonstrate their talents. We start to make preparations for the GGS Summer Festival on Saturday 28th June and prepare our Samba Band for the Northfleet Carnival on 12th July to finish off the academic year, before looking forward to the next. As always, a big thank you to my wonderful colleagues in the Music Department and across the school who make our events possible. PFM
